Smithy Court, Stockport Extra Care Living

Project Summary

Background

Quartzelec’s credentials in the care homes sector continue with the completion of work at Stockport’s Smithy Court, for customer Your Housing Group. The development comprises 55 one and two-bedroomed extra care apartments for couples and single people affected by dementia and are available for sale, shared ownership or rent. Facilities include full working independent kitchen with bistro, gardens, internal courtyard, lounge, arts and crafts room and a hairdressing salon.

The Project

The 12-month, £800,000 project involved up to 12 Quartzelec engineers and electricians from the Manchester business and the full project scope included:

• Full warden call system complete with ‘assistive technology’ capabilities, Wi-Fi, TV/Sky.
• Energy efficient electrical system installed to meet BREAAM and Code for Sustainable Homes, comprising LED lighting, presence-sensitive lighting controls and photovoltaic installation.
