First Scot Rail

Background

As part of their commitment to improve fleet performance levels, First ScotRail engaged the services of Morgan Est to enhance the maintenance facilities of their Haymarket Rail Depot. Morgan Est called upon Quartzelec to add their electrical engineering expertise.

The Project

Quartzelec undertook a design and build contract on behalf of Morgan Est, for the electrical infrastructure associated with the construction of 3 new rail maintenance sheds for the fleet of newly developed 170 Turbostar trains. Haymarket Depot is where ScotRail carry out maintenance, fuelling and train preparation.

During the 18 month contract, Quartzelec were responsible for the Design, Installation and Commissioning of the following:

• Sub Main Power Distribution System
• Small Power Distribution System
• General Lighting
• Emergency Lighting
• External and Access Lighting
• Fire Alarm System
• Data and Communication Systems
• Public Address System
