Project Summary

Background

Quartzelec has had the privilege of working with British Telecom for a number of years. Beginning a relationship in 1994 when we were awarded the Measured Term Contract for the North Wales area. Quartzelec consistently delivers to tight timescales and carries out work to an exceptionally high standard and we now support the telecoms giant on a measured term contract covering North and South Wales, the North of England and Scotland.

Late 2015 we secured a further one-year, measured term contract with BT, expected to be worth in the region of £2.6 million, the scope of work which comprises electrical installations and DNO upgrades. We also support BT through a 2 year Test and Inspection contract.

The Project

Through our Measured Term Contract with BT we provide unique LV Competencies, securing these works as Primary Electrical Contractor, and DNO co-ordinator and which includes;

• General maintenance to electrical installations within all BT telephone exchanges including rewiring / replacing lighting installations, power supplies etc.
• Upgrading and replacement of electrical panels, switchgear and cabling infrastructure.
• Installation / replacement of UPS systems.
• Installation of new and replacing of old generator sets and associated controls and wiring plus providing temporary sets when required.
• Carrying out electrical installation works in conjunction with Weatherite and Edenaire to provide ventilation systems for exchanges.
• New electrical installation works provided by BT planners in areas covered under the MTC.
• New LV Boards in exchanges and any temporary supplies needed.
• Installation of containment for DC power, AC supplies and fibre in exchange floors.
• Supply to Telecom racks and installation of PDU in exchanges.
• Full electrical Data Centre fit-outs.
• DNO upgrades.
