As an Electrical Engineer, you will play an essential part in delivering high‑quality engineering solutions throughout all stages of project activity. Your work will support both client requirements and internal technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Designing new machinery (stator, rotor, and full machine assemblies), as well as upgrades and retrofits
- Conducting root cause analysis for failed machinery and preparing repair instructions
- Leading engineering activities and supporting client interactions throughout project phases
- Performing diagnostic and life‑assessment work, including on‑site condition analysis
- Providing service, maintenance, and technical support where required
- Assisting tendering and project management teams, helping secure and deliver new projects
- Developing test methodologies for dynamic testing and analysing test results
- Conducting witness testing, technical evaluations, and quality checks
- Ensuring all work meets agreed technical and contractual standards
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Knowledge of medium and large high‑voltage rotating electrical machines
- Experience using electromagnetic design tools (MotorCAD, COMSOL, or similar)
- A background in engineering design environments
- Familiarity with manufacturing techniques
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Degree‑level qualification or HND/HNC with relevant experience
- Ideally five years’ experience in a professional engineering role
- CAD capability or experience working with draughting support
- Understanding of rotating machines, control systems, switchgear, and transformers
Personal Attributes
- The ability to travel occasionally within the UK and overseas
- Strong MS Office, CAD, and engineering software skills
- High levels of literacy, numeracy, and professionalism in documentation
- Effective problem‑solving skills and sound technical judgement
- A results‑focused mindset, working independently or as part of a project team
