Partial Discharge

Quartzteq has developed a range of sensors to acquire PD from motor or generator windings. Options are available for use in both safe area and Ex environments, also for machines where surge capacitors are fitted and at various voltages up to 34kV.

QCC12 (up to 12kV)

  • Suitable for machines rated up to 12kV 
  • Partial discharge coupling capacitor
  • Only one capacitor required per phase
  • Suitable for use with LIFEVIEW LIVE, LIFEVIEW MOBILE or LIFEVIEW PDA

A coupling capacitor designed to acquire partial discharge (PD) signals from motor or generator windings with only one capacitor required per phase.

 

QCC17 (up to 17kV)

  • Suitable for machines rated up to 17kV

  • Suitable for use with LIFEVIEW LIVE, LIFEVIEW MOBILE or LIFEVIEW PDA

QCT17 (surge capacitors fitted)

  • Ideal for machines with surge capacitors fitted

  • Wide-band current transformer

  • Suitable for use with LIFEVIEW LIVE, LIFEVIEW MOBILE or LIFEVIEW PDA

The QCT17 is installed on the ground wire of the surge capacitor. For this, the case of the surge capacitor has to be insulated from the ground, with just the ground wire connected to the main ground through the QCT17. The measurement is contact free, No galvanic connection to the high voltage terminals is made. The CT has an inner diameter of 17mm this allows standard earth wires (typically 16mm2) to be used. The maximum current of 25A before the CT goes into saturation makes the QCT17 the ideal PD sensor for practically all surge capacitor ranges.

 

QRC40 (Ex applications)

  • Suitable for Ex applications (Ex eb IIC T5 Gb, Tamb -20°C or -30°C to +85°C)
  • Hinged casing facilitates installation
  • A Rogowski Coil sensor
  • Suitable for use with LIFEVIEW LIVE, LIFEVIEW MOBILE or LIFEVIEW PDA II

The QRC40 Rogowski Coil is designed to acquire high frequency current pulses generated by partial discharge and is an ideal sensor for installation around high voltage power cables and bushings that are less than 40mm in diameter.

 

QRC85 (Ex applications)

  • Suitable for Ex applications (Ex eb IIC T5 Gb, Tamb -20°C or -30°C to +85°C)
  • Hinged casing facilitates installation
  • A Rogowski Coil sensor
  • Suitable for use with LIFEVIEW LIVE, LIFEVIEW MOBILE or LIFEVIEW PDA

The QRC85 Rogowski Coil is designed to acquire high frequency current pulses generated by partial discharge and is an ideal sensor for installation around high voltage power cables and bushings.
